Well, the snow has passed for the moment, and we are now getting rained on. I don't think we'll have it as bad as Portland, OR, but we will have our own flooding concerns!
My husband saw an article on CNET that said LiveJournal has laid off about a dozen of its workers. There is now a rumor flying around saying that LJ's days are numbered. I will not jump ship just yet! I barely have time to keep this blog updated, much less go to another social site and start again, and then maintain two blogs!
I said at the beginning the snow has passed for the moment. We got about eight inches of snow yesterday (Monday). In the morning, my husband was driving in whiteout conditions, and in the afternoon I was driving in the fog after the snow stopped. The word to use is "puffy", I think. I don't know how else to describe it. Since it had snowed, and there wasn't much traffic, you couldn't see the road. No tracks from cars, the plows hadn't come by, so you couldn't see the sides of the road. It turned the highway into town into a one lane road. You couldn't see landmarks, trees, road markers, etc. It was kind of spooky. I white-knuckled my way to work, and then had to deal with dumb drivers!. People who thought driving was a good idea once the snow stopped. Not so much. They slid down hills and through intersections, and got stuck in snow drifts. Public schools in about a 100 mile radius were closed.
Today, the temp has risen, and the roads have turned to slush-mush. It is also very bumpy. I had forgotten that little piece of advice they tell women who want to self-induce labor: Drive on bumpy roads. So I have been very uncomfortable driving lately. I don't know if it's Braxton Hicks or what, but I'm very uncomfortable right now. If this keeps up, we're going to have problems, because I'm not due until next month!
I took a very long nap today, so sleeping tonight is going to be tough. I was planning on doing some housework until I got sleepy, but since my tummy is bothering me, I think just lying down with a good book is in my future! I've caught up on my Harry Potter/Harry Dresden novels during this pregnancy, as well as some Kay Hooper books.
Well, I should go. The hubby is making sounds like he wants to go to bed, and I want to visit with him some before he does, since I'm going to be awake for a while! Have a great night, everyone.
