Popular Science came out with an article about the "god particle", using nanotech to create smarter machines. Basically, HP created a 'memristor' that can help computers turn on instantly, contain more memory, and eventually think like humans do. Here's the link:

One of the first comments related to this article was "Makes me think of Skynet." Or something to that effect.
My DH forwarded this to me, thinking it might help me with my "Ghost" WIP. I love him, but his research is taking my work in places I never thought it would go. Just another example of me wanting to do my own little thing, and then he drags me up to the present, making me write stories that are smarter than I am! ;) But I'm finding that is something of a challenge. Computers should only be as smart as their creators. We get ahead of ourselves, let Pandora out again, and the next thing you know, the governor of California is blasting through your door. Sheesh!
Of course, characters are only as smart as their creators, as well. And when it comes to tech, well...there was a reason I needed extra help in algebra in high school! Looking at it that way, ALL of my characters would be in remedial math...
Speaking of my DH, he has started his own blog. Please check it out!
